Obituary for
Arris Druyff Jr.
Arris Druyff, Jr. 91, of Ault passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Grace Pointe, Greeley. Junior, as his friends called him, was born in rural Iowa on March 2, 1927 to Arris and Olive (Brawner) Druyff, Sr. where he was raised, later moving to Alabama.
Junior began working as a welder in the shipyards in Mobile, AL as a civilian and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, Junior moved to Iowa where he worked various jobs around Newton, IA. It was there he met Nell Berdine Wooddell. They were married June 9, 1950 in Prairie City, Iowa, celebrating 68 years together.
In addition to farming, he worked with Allis Chalmers Co. as a service representative until retiring. Junior enjoyed a long retirement, moving to Ault, CO where they enjoyed summer trips throughout Colorado in their RV and winters in Yuma, AZ for over 20 years.
Junior was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Ault and assisted with many military honors at local events. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering on and repairing engines, hunting rocks and minerals, lapidary and stock car racing.
Thankful to have shared his life are his wife, Nell Berdine, sons; Jim (Linda) and Mark (Donna); one granddaughter, Jennifer (Brian) Gastrock; three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Grace and Bennett Gastrock; Donna’s daughter, Amanda (Joe) Kelly and their children, Coleton and Sawyer Jo; Donna’s son, Dustin Kern; sister, Jean Blessing; sisters-in-law, Gay Haney and Irene Druyff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Walter and Doran Druyff, Peggy Hutcheson, Alta Donaldson and infants Joyce and Robert Druyff.
Life Celebration services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 19 at First Lutheran Church of Ault, 402 Graefe Avenue with military honors. A luncheon will follow.
