Joyce Darlene Mount
Joyce Darlene Mount, 74, of Kersey, CO went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 19, 2018. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Joyce was born on April 12, 1944 in Denver, CO to Wesley and Evelyn (Beckman) Stevens. She grew up in Greeley and attended Maplewood and Greeley High School. Joyce married Gary Coats Mount in 1961 in Greeley.
Joyce was a bookkeeper for Platte Valley School District for over 20 years. She then worked for Bonell for two years and then became director of Kersey Housing for 14 years.
She was a member of Kersey Community Church, choir member and taught 3 & 4-year old’s Sunday School for over 25 years.
Joyce’s grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved to quilt, scrapbook, garden and was known for her wonderful cooking.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Gary Mount; children, Cary (Darcy) Mount, Mike (Penny) Mount, and Lisa (Ed) O’Connor; grandchildren, Mindy (Eric) Smith, Danny Malpiede, Heather (Josh) Horton, Alecia Malpiede, Cole (Makayla) Mount, Jenna Mount; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Jan Crider, and Claudia Stevens; brother, Dave Stevens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Evelyn Stevens; aunt, Dorothy Matlock; uncle, George Beckman; and brother, Denny Stevens (#7).
A Life Celebration will be held at Kersey Community Church, 201 SE 1st Street, Kersey, CO 80644 from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018. All who knew and loved Joyce are encouraged to attend and help celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the “Greeley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association” in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
