Obituary for William A. "Bill" Stoddart

William A. "Bill"  Stoddart
William Albert “Bill” Stoddart, 82, of Greeley entered into the presence of his Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2018. Bill was a retired minister, who served several churches in Colorado, Oregon and Kansas.

He was born January 22, 1936, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, to Albert and Mabel Stoddart. Bill graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1953, where he was the captain of the track team his senior year. Following high school, he served in Wisconsin National Guard.

Bill attended Ottawa University, where he met his wife, Priscilla. They were married on August 8, 1959. He graduated in 1960. While attending college, he pastored Tauy (Kansas) Baptist Church. He completed his sem-inary training at Berkeley Baptist Seminary in 1964 and joined the pastoral staff of Calvary Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado. Over his 50 years in ministry, he served as a staff pastor of First Baptist Church, Portland, Oregon, and he was the Senior Pastor of Evangel Baptist Church (Wheatridge, Colorado), First Baptist Church (Fort Lupton, Colorado), First Baptist Church (Hotchkiss, Colorado). He served as a Chaplain at the Veteran’s Administration Domiciliary, in White City, Oregon, and as the Chaplain of the Medford (Oregon) Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. Bill also founded and pastored First Baptist Church, Eagle Point, Oregon. Billl was a member of the Fort Lupton Ministerial Alliance, 1984-1996, and he served as the President of the American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountains, 1990-1991.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and backpacking with friends and family in Wisconsin, Kansas, Colorado and Or-egon. He enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, and he enjoyed people. After retiring from church ministry, he spent a lot of time with his family, he was active in the Hotchkiss (CO) Senior Center and he served as the inter-im pastor of several churches on the Western Slope.

Bill is survived by his wife, Priscilla, of Greeley; his son, Lance (Melanie) Stoddart, of Mars, PA; his daughter, Denise (Don) Gragert, of Greeley; his brother, Kenneth, of Fond du Lac, WI; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Am-ber), Matthew and Stephanie Gragert and Hannah, Isaiah and Jeremiah Stoddart; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jane Wagner.

A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Church (1115 1st St, Fort Lupton, CO 80621, (303) 452-5332) at 2 pm, on Saturday, May 26, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Halcyon Hospice and Palli-ative Care (www.halcyonhospice.org) or Mission SOS International (sosadventure.org/give).
