George Goodell
George Goodell, 93, of Greeley, CO, formerly of Eaton, CO passed away March 16, 2018 at Grace Pointe Continuing Care in Greeley.
He was born November 3, 1924 in Clarks, NE to George and Emma (Hansen) Goodell.
George was drafted in 1943 and served in WWII in the United States Army Air Corp and the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and moved to Eaton.
He was co-owner of Goodell Brothers, Inc., with his brother Orville from 1947 until 1979 and was sole owner until 1983. He sold his business and began working as the director of Weld County Department of Roads and Bridges, retiring in January 1994. George and his brother Orville also co-owned Eaton Development Corporation.
George married Geraldine Judson and they were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage prior to her death.
He was a member of the American Legion, Colorado Cattle Feeders Association, Colorado Contractors Association, Greeley Elks, T-Bone Club and a founding member of the Eaton Country Club.
George served several terms on the Eaton Town Board, Cache National Bank Board and Colorado Contractors Association Board of Directors.
He was a Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos fan. He especially enjoyed attending Rockies games with his friend, Vern. Raising cattle was also a decade’s long hobby.
George is survived by his son, Dennis Goodell and wife Susie; daughter, Debbie Scheid and husband Michael; granddaughter, Christy Olivas and husband Lenny; and great granddaughters, LeAndra and Alie Olivas.
Life Celebration Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Adamson.
