Obituary for Blanca Lilia Cura

Blanca Lilia Cura
Blanca Lilia Cura of Greeley, Colorado passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Blanca was born on November 16, 1944 in Laredo Texas to Gregorio and Aurora Moncivais. Blanca attended San Antonio College and AIMS Community College.
Blanca spent a lifetime of serving others in a capacity that was directed toward those in need, those less fortunate and those that she loved. Blanca was passionate about dancing; from Tejano to Rock n’ Roll. Her last dance was the Tango in San Diego. Blanca loved celebrating the Holiday of Christmas. She collected snowmen and Santa Clauses and loved Christmas shopping for everyone. She enjoyed watching the Rockies, her Dallas Cowboys and the Cooking Channel. Her greatest devotion was that to her family. As a single parent she instilled the value and importance of hard work and a good education. These values were handed down to all of her children and grandchildren. Her warrior spirit is what enabled her to fight the courageous battle with cancer for over seven years. Blanca was loved deeply and will be deeply missed, but her warrior spirit still lives within her family.
Blanca is survived by her children, Lilia (Dr. Tom) Boyer of San Diego, Aurora (Dean) Medina of Greeley, Andrew (Kim) Cura of Pueblo, John Cura of San Antonio and Nieves Mendoza of Ft. Collins. Also survived by grandchildren, John Cura, Ariel Boyer, Juaquin Cura, Tara Boyer, Paloma Cura, Jeremiah Cura, and Andres Cura; her siblings, Cruz (Beatrice) Moncivais, Raul Moncivais, Mary (David) Alvarado, Joe (Margaret) Moncivais, and Dolores (Ricardo) Stillman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Blanca was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Moncivais; her sisters, Aurora Moncivais, Ramona Salazar and Bertha Resendez; and nephews, David Jr. Alvarado, Raul Jr. Moncivais and Henry Jr. Moncivais.
A special thanks to the following providers that took special care of Blanca during her battle, North Colorado Medical Center, Centennial Healthcare Center Team, Dr. Douglas Kemme at University of Colorado Health Cancer Care Hematology and Staff, Jeremy Grover, PA at the Walk In Clinic, TruHospice Nurses and Staff, all providers and staff.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Adamson. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1311 3rd Street, Greeley, CO 80631.
