Obituary for
Elizabeth R. Burghart
Betty Burghart, 76 of Greeley, CO passed away May 23, 2017 in Greeley.
She was born March 6, 1941 on the family farm near Longmont, CO to Mike and Margaret (Obholz) Gittlein. She was raised with three younger brothers and was a very hardworking farm girl. She married Elmer Burghart in Longmont, CO on May 31, 1969.
After staying home to raise her two boys, she graduated with an Associates Degree from Aims Community College in 1994. She had careers at Mountain Bell and State Farm and working with special needs children at LaSalle Elementary School and throughout District 6. She spent hours volunteering in her sons’ classrooms and at the school library. She was the best cook in the world and loved Sunday family dinners. She loved to ride bikes with her brothers and go Dutch Hop dancing and to the drive-in with her husband. She enjoyed quilting, sewing clothes, crocheting dolls, and making fun things from scraps of denim. She loved dogs, especially her precious “Cookie” of 18 years. Playing with her grandchildren was her favorite pastime over the last 10 years. She adored all of her nieces and nephews and they will fondly remember her as their sweet “Aunt B.”
Betty is survived by her husband Elmer, sons Allen and Jason (Kelly) Burghart, grandchildren Alayna and Logan Burghart, her brothers Larry (Carol) Gittlein, Michael (Diana Kotich) Gittlein and Tim Gittlein, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A Life Celebration Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Adamson Chapel.
