Obituary for
George Spruce III
George Hunt Pendleton Spruce III, 83, of Greeley, CO passed away May 19, 2017 at Life Care Center of Greeley.
George was born August 12, 1933 in Charleston, WV where he was raised and graduated from high school. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (now Virginia Tech) where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. After Graduation from VPI, George was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF and attended Navigator’s school.
George was a licensed Private Pilot and loved airplanes and flying. He enjoyed a long and interesting career in the Aerospace industry where he contributed to the design of many aircraft including the F-14 Tomcat. He was a long-time member of AOPA – Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and EAA – Experimental Aircraft Association. In addition to flying, he enjoyed reading, carpentry, listening to Neil Diamond, and eating cashew nuts.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, John Spruce of Upland, CA; daughter Heather Kerns of Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Emmalyn, Carter, Evan, Cassidy, Matthew, William and Nicholas.
George was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Larry Malone.
A Life Celebration Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Adamson Life Celebration Home.
