Obituary for
Herold Hettinger
On April 9, 2017 we lost a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather – we also gained another guardian angel. Herold Hettinger was born to David and Elizabeth Hettinger on September 5, 1928 in Windsor CO. He married the love of his life, Betty Adler, on July 9, 1948. His heart broke when she passed in May 2015.
Herold was a World War II Navy veteran. He enjoyed being a farmer and a Kodak security guard, but especially liked retirement. He and Betty enjoyed traveling across the country in their campers and RVs, hiking in RMNP, and just spending time together. Herold loved to talk with anyone he met and relished in telling stories of Windsor. His friendship will be greatly missed.
Herold is survived by sons Gerald (Jeanne) Hettinger and Bruce (Melanie) Hettinger and daughter Robin (Craig) Zimmerman; grandchildren Jeramy (Lisa) Hettinger, Jason (Tiffany) Hettinger, Jennifer (Jonathan) Blehm, Christopher (Audrey) Hettinger, and Timothy (Anna) Hettinger; as well as 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandson Jeffrey Hettinger, sisters Pauline, Molly, Rosie and Frieda and brothers David, Reuben, Carl, Paul, Jim and Jack.
A special thank you for the warmth and care from the staff of Halcyon Hospice and Windsor HealthCare and his many friends.
Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, CO on April 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend A. Fred Evenson.
Contributions may be made to Halcyon Hospice, PO Box 177, Mead CO 80542 in Herold’s memory.
