Obituary for Barbara "Bobbi" Kiser

Barbara "Bobbi" Kiser
Bobbi Kiser, 69, of Greeley, passed away on Thursday, February 9 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at NCMC. She was born July 3, 1947 in Norton, KS to Howard and Irene (Hopper) Benton. She grew up on the family farm in Norcatur, KS and attended high school in Oberlin, KS, where her parents later resettled. She received her bachelor's degree and met her future husband, Rick Kiser, at Kansas State University. They were married on August 31, 1968 in Norcatur. She went on to pursue her Masters of Social Work at the University of Kansas.
Bobbi began her career in social work in Kansas City, working until they started their family. They lived in California while Rick served in the Air Force, and moved to Greeley in 1980. Once her three children were in school, she began teaching parenting classes at AIMS Community College.
In the early 90's, after numerous flights to Kansas to visit her parents, Bobbi decided to go to flight school. She earned her private pilot's license, became a member of the Blue Sky Flyers in Greeley, and went on to serve as the club's Secretary/Treasurer for many years. She was a strong advocate for women pilots.
Bobbi volunteered for A Kid's Place, and was a board member for United Way of Weld County. She was a member of First Congregational Church, and sang in the choir with Rick. She enjoyed playing tennis, trips to the Rocky Mountains, and family activities.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Rick Kiser of Greeley; children, Jennifer Kiser of Littleton, Ryan (Michaelyn) Kiser of Lakewood and Travis (Danielle) Kiser of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Dylan and Delilah Kiser of Lakewood; and a brother, Howard “Hank” (Jeanie) Benton of Vienna, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the First Congregational Church, 2101 16th Street with a reception to follow. Private inurnment at the church columbarium. Memorial gifts may be made to “United Way” in care of Adamson Cares, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Friends may leave condolences at adamsoncares.com.
