Obituary for Raul S. Martinez

Raul S. Martinez Sr, 55, passed away on April 6, 2021, with his wife holding him.

Raul was born in McAllen, Texas. Raul was the 2nd oldest of 10 children. He attended PSJA High School, graduating in 1984. He met the love of his life at the age of 15. Raul married his wife Carolina (Cantu) Martinez on October 26, 1985 and had two children. The couple relocated to Greeley, Colorado in 1992.

Raul joined the United States Marine Corps at 17, proudly and humbly serving until his honorable discharge in 1990. He never boasted of his service, but was very proud to have earned the title of Marine.

Raul worked in production for RR Donnelly, and most recently at Leprino Foods. His quiet leadership, no nonsense attitude and high expectations for everyone made him a role model. He never wanted to be recognized for his outstanding work, nor did he wish to receive accolades. He did receive several awards for his contributions to the company. He was well known for his sense of humor and giving his friends nicknames.

Raul was an adored grandpa to 3 children, Solomon (11), Lilliana (7), and Annabelle (2). Raul enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing with his grand babies and his best friend Lupe. He loved going to the racetrack at Bandimere Speedway and watching his son race their two project cars. He loved watching movies with his daughter, and making her fix his tablet to play games on. He was never far from his wife, and spent the majority of his time with her by his side. He would suffer through watching her “chick flicks,” and gladly sit through her favorite Christmas movies. Raul also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play outside with his 2 dogs. Raul was a big sports fan, especially for the Texas Longhorns and New York Giants. Raul spent his retirement making memories with his family and spending as much time as possible with his grandkids.

Raul was preceded in death by his mother, Lorensa Martinez, and siblings Christine, Israel, and an infant.

Raul is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carolina C. Martinez; his children; son and daughter-in-law Raul C. and Amanda Martinez Jr of Greeley, Colorado, and daughter Alyssa Annette Martinez of Greeley, Colorado, his father, Tomas L. Martinez Jr; his best friend Guadalupe and Minerva Garza III and family, 3 grandchildren, and 6 siblings.

Interment will be Friday, April 16 1:00pm at Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley, Colorado. All are welcome to attend.
