William Otis Hastings, Jr., 77 of Greeley, passed away April 8, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born February 11, 1944 in Denver, Colorado to William Hastings, Sr and Gertrude (Brunner) Hastings. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Bill married the love of his life, Pamela Miller, on May 25, 1968 in Fort Bragg, NC. He graduated from St. Mary’s School of Law in 1974.
Bill practiced for several years and then worked as an attorney in tax, real estate, and acquisitions for Phillips Petroleum until he retired in November of 2003. However, his most loved service started when he was ordained as a Deacon in Amarillo, Texas on December 30, 2000. He served as a Deacon in Amarillo, Calgary, and most recently at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Greeley. The congregation became his second family. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting with his brother, daughter, and grandchildren, as well as camping, and hiking. With friends and family, he had climbed many of Colorado’s 14ers. He shared the love of traveling with his beautiful bride and their travels took them around the world. Bill was always agreeable to the next greatest adventure and even ran the Leadville Heavy Half Marathon with his daughter at the age of 70, taking first place for his age group. His daughter, Heather, was his pride and joy and she was ‘daddy’s little girl’ from day one. He adored being an amazing ‘papa’ to his three grandchildren and was always front and center for any events or partaking in grand explorations.
