Obituary for Virgil N Baxter

Virgil Baxter, 96, of Greeley, died in Loveland on December 1, 2018. He was born to Arthur and Nelda (Hillman) Baxter on April 22, 1922 in Waynoka, Oklahoma. When young, he lived through the Dust Bowl and depression in Oklahoma.
He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a Machinist on the USS Corregidor.
Virgil enjoyed Golf. After retiring he worked as a crossing guard and loved do it for 20+ years. He enjoyed all sporting events, and received Greeley West Greatest Sports Fan Award. Virgil also received an award for his 20+ years of service as a crossing guard. He also worked for Union Pacific, Clough Furniture, USPS, and Ranger at Highland Hill Golf Course.
Virgil Married Virginia Barteleson in 1941 and together had a daughter. He later remarried Bellie Lou Brooks in 1970.
Virgil is survived by his daughter, Pam Naville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bellie; still born son in 1946; parents, and sister, Oletha.
Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10 am, on January 9, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley.
