Obituary for Charles Edward "Chuck" Kler

Charles Edward Kler, 74, of Windsor died at Medical Center of the Rockies Sunday, November 25 surrounded by family. Chuck was born to Edward and Dorothea (Sitzman) Kler on January 21, 1944 in Greeley, Colorado.

Chuck worked with the Boy Scouts of America in both Greeley and Omaha, Nebraska. He was a badge coach for outdoor activities, was a member of Order of the Arrow and the Wood badge. He served as Cub Master for Kersey pack 228 and went on to serve as Scout Master for Kersey troop 228. He was awarded Cub Master of the year 1989 and Scout Master of the year 1991 both through the Longs Peak Council, Greeley. Chuck was very active with the Kersey Volunteer Fire Department serving as a volunteer, Assistant Chief and Chief. He also was involved with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) union, holding the positions of Vice President and President of this organization.

Chuck married Connie Rae Selk on December 31, 1975 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed reading, fishing, camping, Nascar, tinkering on cars but most enjoyed time with family, especially the grandkids.

Chuck worked at various jobs in and around Weld County before and after graduating from Greeley High School then moved to Omaha in 1963 working for Western Electric. He moved back to Greeley where he continued his career with Mountain Bell, USWest, and Qwest, retiring in 2000. After leaving USWest, he worked as a maintenance tech at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church until his health declined. Chuck was a life time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Chuck is survived by wife, Connie of Windsor; sons, David (Rebecca) of Windsor, Daniel (Sandy) of Eaton, Douglas of Windsor, and Christopher (Olivia) of Lafayette Louisiana, grandchildren; Felicia (Mike) Romey, Stephanie Kler, Eric (Heather), Jacob, Chad, Harrison and Annelise Kler, Alison and Abby Herzog, 1 great granddaughter, Mackenzy Romey, brother, Spencer (Joyce) of Casper, Wyoming and sister Marilyn Ehn of Eaton.

Chuck was preceded in death by both of his parents, infant brother Donald, daughter-in-law Merrie Kler, and brother-in-law Tracy Ehn.

Visitation 2-4 Sunday at the Adamson Community Room, 4650 20th Street, Greeley. Life Celebration Service 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 3 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with reception following.
