Obituary for Marvin Lloyd Dirks

Marvin Dirks was born, August 07, 1938 to John and Vera (Rummel) Dirks in Atwood, KS and passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at NCMC.

He went through school in Atwood, KS and joined the US Navy in 1957. After his service in the Navy he returned to Kansas.

On September 1, 1961 he married Valyne Headrick. They moved to Denver, CO where Marvin was a sales rep for Square D. Electric. They then moved to Salt Lake City, UT where Marvin worked for Carnation Corp. A few years later, Marvin brought his family back to Kansas where he went to work for Koch Hydrocarbons as an electrician. In 1973, he founded Industrial Electric and automation in Byers, CO. They ran this business together until Val’s passing on March 25, 2000. Marvin sold Industrial Electric to his son Mark in 2004.

In February 2006 he married Alice (Kosmicki) Dinkel who he was with until his passing. He was proud of his family especially his grandchildren and he was very excited about the arrival of his first great grandson. Sadly, he passed before his expected arrival on April 04, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Vera Dirks, his older brother Don Dirks and his wife, Valyne.

He is survived by sisters, Alice (Ron) Howard, Norma Wymore;his brother Dan, his wife Alice, his children; Steve (Ari) Dirks, Mark (Ruth) Dirks, Kevin Dirks and Kristen Lawrie and his step children Kim, Tina and Rick as well as 10 grandchildren.

Visitation 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Adamson Life Celebration Home. Service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Adamson. Interment at Linn Grove Cemetery with reception to follow at the Greeley VFW. The family would like to thank NCMC for their care of Marvin over the last four years. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Dirks family for charities to be determined.
