Obituary for
Erlene LeZhan
Erlene LeZhan, 101, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Fairacres Manor. Born January 13, 1917 to Florence Caroline (Galbraith) and Stephen Walter Etherton on their dairy farm in Grand Island NE, she was the youngest of eight children.
She was a noted artist. During Colorado’s bicentennial in 1976, the University of Northern Colorado asked her to paint a series honoring both Colorado’s Old West as well as James Mitchner’s novel "Centennial". Afterwards she was invited to be a lifelong member of the James Mitchner Society.
She is predeceased by two husbands Edwin Giffin and William L Norris; three sons Arthur, Thomas and Troy Giffin; and one grandson Rob Goodfellow.
She is survived by her two daughters Grace (Mel) Goodfellow of Choctaw, OK and Zhanna (Robert) Kimball of Lovettsville, VA and a daughter-in-law Tess Giffin of Castle Rock, CO. Additionally she is survived by six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the admin and nursing staff at Fair Acres for their excellent care of our mother during these past 6 years. And a special tribute to Esther of the local Mennonite Church for volunteering her time and providing spiritual support to her during these many years.
In lieu of flowers the family would request that donations be made to your favorite charity.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
