Obituary for Mary Ann Feuerstein

Mary Ann (Homyak) Feuerstein, 88, of Greeley, CO, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Tru Hospice of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

She was born in Greeley, May 19, 1929 to John and Mary (Mudri) Homyak. She attended Ashton grade school, graduated from College High School in 1946, and attended Colorado State College of Education, now UNC.

She married Robert L. “Dutch” Feuerstein in 1951 at Trinity Episcopal Church. He died in April 2014.

Her 46 year career in the Weld County Clerk & Recorder’s Office began in 1948 after attending college. She was elected Clerk and Recorder in 1976 and served for nineteen years, was elected for four full terms and retired in 1995. She opened the first branch office in Ft. Lupton on Feb. 14, 1978 and conducted the first all-mail election in 1991. She was president of the Colorado State Clerks Association in 1981 and president of IACREOT (International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers) in 1983.

She was the first woman to serve on The Board of Directors of the United Bank of Greeley. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Assistance League of Greeley, Greeley Republican Women, enjoyed several bridge clubs, golf and trips to Black Hawk, Co.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dutch and parents. She is survived by a son, Rev. Eric (Robbie) of Canon City; granddaughter, Erin (Zach) Coram; grandson, Kyle; brother, Ken (Elsie) Homyak; nephew, Gary (Dawn) Homyak as well as other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Life Celebration service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3800 W. 20th Street, with inurnment to follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens.
