Obituary for Earl Ward Lee Sutton

Earl Ward Lee Sutton, 91, of Greeley passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Meadowview of Greeley. He was born March 8, 1927 in Herrick, SD to Harry Hamilton and Nettie (Fithian) Sutton where he lived until age seven, when his family moved to Minnesota. He graduated from Kelliher, MN High School in 1945, and then took over the family farm and cared for his aging parents. In 1960, he moved to Colorado where he worked for Climax Molybdenum Mine. In 1962, he married Doris (Baird) Sutton. He attended CSU and received his Bachelors and Masters in Agriculture and Industrial Arts.

The family moved to Minot, ND in 1968 where he taught for a number of years before retiring. When they moved back to Colorado in 1988, he did maintenance work and remodeling for Cost Cutters.

Earl enjoyed spending time in his garden, camping and traveling in their motor home with their daughters and granddaughters, as well as playing Free Cell, woodworking, exercising at Work Out West, and participating in a weekly Community Bible Study.

He attended Mt. View Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; daughters, Eileen (Jeff) Ladwig and Anita Sutton; granddaughters, Katelynn and Lexee Sutton all of Greeley; and sister, Donna Sutton of Blackduck, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and 6 sisters.

Visitation 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at Adamson. Graveside service 1 p.m. Friday, April 27 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with service to follow at 2 p.m. at Mt. View Evangelical Free Church, 6253 W. 28th Street. A reception will follow the service.
